Locked or Unlocked, that is the question…
I have purchased several phones from Amazon before this, each allegedly unlocked. But what are we asking when we ask that question? If a phone is stolen, it can be locked from being reactivated. A phone can be locked because the person you purchased it from didn’t share their passcode to “unlock” the phone to make calls. Then there is Carrier Unlocked, which usually means it can be used with any provider’s (like AT&T, Verizon, TMobile, etc.) system. There may be other things that unlocked may refer to that I am frankly ignorant about. Any time I’ve purchased a phone that was supposed to be unlocked, and it would not activate, the seller always insisted it was unlocked. Finally, with this Pixel 7, I seem to have a phone which is carrier unlocked, as well as not having a user lock. No warnings about using a specific network’s SIM card were presented on activation. In fact, the phone appeared completely new other than generic packaging. It functions well, clean,no scratches anywhere on the exterior, initial setup was as if it was an unused phone. The screen has no “burn in” patterns and is bright and responds quickly to touch. Battery appears to be like new as well. I purchased this phone after using iPhones for about 8 years. I tired of Apple’s insisting I buy more cloud space without an effective way to remove my photos (and KEEP them), the only choices being to delete them or subscribe for more cloud space. Apple doesn’t have to do it that way, but they want you to buy cloud space. A dollar a month doesn’t seem like much, but multiply that by 230million users! The cloud is probably the most environmentally damaging way to hang onto old digital photos ever invented. Also, if at some point the cloud loses your photos, you have little recourse. That is also the case if they change the rules about access to YOUR DATA. Research it.I you think you want a new phone, a good place to start your research is gsmarena. I like the Pixel series because there are custom ROMS, operating systems, that can be loaded in place of Android. Remember how I said I switched from Apple to Android? Well my previous Android phone wasn’t to my liking, which is why I switched to iPhones to start with…and because MS messed up the WONDERFUL Windows Phone 8.1, I felt there were no other choices. I digress…in case I don’t like the latest offering from Android I wanted options, like LineageOS and GrapheneOS. So far I am experimenting with the stock Android until I know it isn’t merely learning curve that frustrates me.By the way, Google has their own dirty cloud, as does MS. I avoid them all.My final word of advice is to be prepared to return the phone, any phone. You might have just a bad example, or maybe it wasn’t properly listed, or renewed, or unlocked. Mistakes happen. Or maybe the phone just isn’t right for you. I didn’t need to contact this seller for anything, I am happy with the purchase ! The seller was “thegadgetdeals”.

Great discovery
Wanting an Android phone to mainly use as a DAC, I tried Samsung A 5 series and Moto Edge 2023 but none were meeting LDAC 96/32/990… After reading Pixels are plain Android, tried Pixel 7 and Bingo: stable LDAC 96/32/990! This Pixel 7 was refurb in excellent condition around $200.

I wouldn’t waste my money and time setting this phone up again
This phone was supposed to be renewed. I very highly doubt it was, at least not thoroughly. The phone battery instantly upon receipt began to heat up while in use; I needed to purchase a replacement phone for the same issue. In addition to getting hot very quickly, which is a known battery issue with Pixels, the battery did not hold a charge.I decided I needed to return this phone 4 days after purchasing it.The phone was at 66% charge when I went to bed; in an attempt to take better care of the battery. I didn’t plug it in overnight. So, while I was sleeping, the battery depleted completely down to where the phone shut itself off. That meant that I didn’t have an alarm to wake me up so I was late for work too.I’ve had success with Amazon renewed purchases before, but this was not successful!!

Very good, but maybe not excellent.
I, admittedly, didn’t know what to expect in a ‘renewed’ phone. I think the phone I received was in good or very good condition, not excellent. It has 2 large blemishes and the battery heats up very quickly where it’s almost too hot hold. However, the screen is great and the blemishes will likely be hidden behind a phone case. Research shows the Pixel 7 runs hot, so I’m not sure that’s just part and parcel of the how the phone should be or not. Overall, it seems to work well and looks fine. If the battery life holds I will be quite pleased with this purchase.

GREAT VALUE IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE THE LATEST VERSION
Great value! Upgraded from a pixel 3 XL to a 7 from this seller and was so happy with it that I ordered another one for a friend. Completely satisfied.

I know you planned it
The touchscreen went kaput after nine days, it started by ignoring input and aggressively registering phantom or “ghost touch” input, then it showed images on the screen that mimicked physical damage before irreversibly going all black. I suspect that this was sabotage effected by a downstream black bag team with deniable links to Google and Alphabet Inc. They probably think that allowing the sale of renewed Pixel 7s is a limited form of charity that they need to control. In a modest way it contributes to the bottom line.

4.5 months in the screen is detaching because of a swollen battery and the phone is at risk of exploding. This happens just after the 90 days guarantee. Repair cost is half the price of the phone. The charger that comes with the phone from the seller also never worked correctly but I didn’t make a fuzz out of it. This is the 2nd Amazon renewed phone in a row with problems. The last one was within the return window because the problem read obvious right off the bat, and then I ordered this one. This is a tremendous waste of money and time. Even if you’re doing this out of environmental concerns, unfortunately many of the sellers just want to take advantage of the inconvenience of returning a phone to get rid of problematic phones they can’t sell. I also have seen no sellers that adhere to the condition rating guidelines.I had other Amazon renewed products including appliances and phones, unfortunately at least for phones, the quality went downhill and now it’s just filled with scams.
